Each of us comes to the point in life where we recognize our inability in a situation, or lack of control regarding something happening around us, so we need to undergird our faith.
Faith’s Equation begins with us realizing this:
There is No Inability in God
Years ago, I wrote a song called No Inability. Today, because not everyone has heard the song, I want to share its message. I know the lyrics were given to me by the Spirit of God and hold an important message for Christians worldwide.
The best way to proceed with this lesson is by listening to the song for yourself. So, I invite you to grab your phone or tablet and go to this address to listen.

Please read through the lyrics below if you aren’t able to view them while listening from the other site. But I really encourage you to try to go to the link to listen, and then return to this article. There is something about music! …It takes a message, and makes it penetrate into your very being! That just can’t be accomplished just be reading. (smile)
When listeners finish, glance down past the lyrics, to the regular typing, to continue reading this chapter. I just don’t want anyone missing out!
Lyrics
Verse 1
When God gives to me a task that seems impossible to do,
Then I know He must be part of the equation.
I will give To Him what I HAVE
Then leave the rest to Him
He is faithful to put the rest of the equation in.
Will it be + 1 or will it be x 10?
Will I trust Him? He may “times it” by 1000.
Will it be multiplication? or addition?
All I give to Him is what I HAVE
To begin with.
Chorus:
For its not MY ability
Nor is it MY Inability
Faith’s Equation-No Inability in God
But it’s GOD’S ABILITY
That completes faith’s equation.
To us, there is but THE CHOICE to give Him what’s within “our” hands
There is NO INABILITY in our Lord’s hands.
Verse 2 (From Matthew 14:13-21)
Take the boy who gave his lunch of the five loaves and two fishes
He just gave Christ what he had within his own hands,
Then the Lord blessed it and multiplied it …for the multitude
ALL had plenty…and were filled… With gratitude
Chorus:
For its not MY ability
Nor is it MY Inability
But it’s GOD’S ABILITY
That completes faith’s equation.
To us, there is but THE CHOICE to give Him what’s within “our” hands
There is NO INABILITY in our Lord’s hands.
Verse 2 (II Kings 4:1-7)
Take the woman and her sons who filled the jars within their house
And in faith they gathered jars from all their neighbors
Their supply of oil was multiplied…
Their debt was paid in full…
Sons were free to be who they were meant to be.
Chorus:
For its not MY ability
Nor is it MY Inability
But it’s GOD’S ABILITY
That completes faith’s equation.
To us, there is but THE CHOICE to give Him what’s within “our” hands
There is NO INABILITY in our Lord’s hands.
Ending:
There is no Inability, there is no Inability,
there is no Inability in our Lord’s hands!

God wants us, His people, to know that when we are trusting Him for something, it’s not about our ability, or even inability (so don’t focus there!), but about us placing the matter in His hands, and realizing it is His Ability that completes our faith’s equation.
We all know from math class what an equation is. As I wrote this song, these are the kinds of equations I was seeing within my own spirit:
My ________ (what I’m giving to God) + God > ________ (the problem/circumstances)
I’ll put something in the blanks for you to see how I recently used this equation for myself: My care about my husband Leonard having a heart problem recently brought me great fear that I’d be a caregiver again and lose yet another husband to death. Giving the FEAR to God, realizing He was greater than the problem/circumstance of Leonard’s heart trouble, God then provided the solution. At first, they were going to do open heart surgery due to his main obstruction being in the “widow-maker” area; but then, out of the blue, several specialists consulted together, and they decided for Leonard to have three stents put in. It was such an easier surgery, his heart is fixed, and he is now doing great!
So, this then was the equation above as I had filled in the blanks:
My fear of losing Leonard to death + God > (was greater than) his present heart troubles and health circumstance.
GOD SOLVED THE PROBLEM!
Let’s look at another equation. Equations work with dollars or numbers too. Amen? Many people will use Faith’s equation “for supply”, as did the two scriptural examples in my song:
My_______ ($ amount) + God = _____________ (put in $ you need)
My $80 on hand in my checking account + placing my need into God’s hands by faith = the $220 I need for the monthly heat bill
Or
My tithe given (even though I don’t have enough to pay my bills) + God (in faith that He will honor my obedience to Him in the matter of tithing and provide for my needs) = God’s ability to activate resource! I’ve given x-amount of my money. Will I believe for him to add to it a few dollars so I can pay my bills? Or will I increase my faith to believe he will increase my finances by multiplying my monies by 2, or 10, or 1000, so I not only can pay my bills, but I can pay off debt?
Friends, we just don’t know what will happen when God is part of the equation that we believe for. We need to Ask Big! Amen? Our God is not limited, as we are!
We may have to “do something” to activate our faith, as the boy “gave” his lunch to Jesus, in Matthew 14:13-21. It may be a series of things to do, such as the widow and her sons were instructed, in II Kings 4:1-7. Besides “gathering the jars”, they also had to do the work of “filling those jars”, so that God could increase the oil that they then “sold in their jars”. When we believe for God to do something, many times He will give a strategy that seems impossible, but His ability is what makes it possible!
Take time to think about your own present equation(s)…Let your faith become active!
Whether we know it or not, we use faith’s equations daily… we just haven’t thought of them as an equation! But the + God in any equation we come up with = the need met.
Could it be an evangelistic equation you will believe for? Maybe faith’s equation looks like the one here:
My time + my talent + God = others making decisions to follow Jesus. (I believe this one in regard to this book.)
Or
Your wayward adult children + your prayers + God = your children returning whole-heartedly to the Lord (and even telling your grandkids about Him!)
Whatever we put into God’s hand’s…in this case, your care for your own children’s eternal souls…your faith being activated by your prayers = God bringing others to them to speak to them of Christ, or drawing them to himself by His Spirit, or giving them a hunger one night to pick up their bible to read. SO MUCH IS POSSIBLE!
Even when we can sense our own inability to influence or change a matter. It’s about God’s ability to do something. His ability to bring about the desired solution.
It may be a better solution than you even thought possible as in the case of the scenarios in the song I wrote:
The widow’s debts were paid from the wee bit of oil they started with… and the multitude was fed from one boy’s loaves and fishes.
Faith’s equations bring about MIRACLES!
May we all be challenged this day, to TRUST GOD…and His Ability!
Always add (+ GOD) to your circumstances/needs and see how Faith’s Equation changes your life.
What are YOU going to believe God for??
What are YOU going to put into His Hands?
Remember, it’s not about our ability or inability.
There is NO INABILITY in our Lord’s Hands.

Write out some Faith equations of your own!
And while doing so you may just receive a divine strategy or two from the Lord in the process! (smile)
