What God Taught Me About Faith on Father’s Day!

At church, in the front, they had a table of gifts for the dads. Dads were told to come and take one. (They were plastic tool boxes filled with goodies.) Each dad had to go up to the altar area, lay hold on the gift that he wanted, take it to himself, and then go back and sit down. That gift was now his. The Holy Spirit began teaching me a few things as I observed those dads who came forward to receive:

If they hadn’t believed it was theirs “to have” they would have sat in their pew.

If they hadn’t believed it was a “forever gift” they would have put it back at the end of the service.

If they didn’t want what was being offered, they would have stayed put.

Faith caused them to receive!

And, when they did so, they “enjoyed their gift” without questioning, fear, suspicion, etc.

In fact, everyone who received had a big smile on their face at receiving their gift.

Seems a very simple lesson to tell you all, but faith is just like that with the Heavenly Father’s gifts to us through Christ His Son.

Faith takes “what is offered”… And as each dad had to “take a gift unto himself”, Faith too, must have “a receiver”.

You and I must “receive a promise of God” and TAKE IT TO OURSELVES in the same way.

This is Faith.

It’s not abstract!

It’s so simple, a child can understand it!

So, get in The Word! Find a promise that is being offered to you! And take it unto yourself!

It’s as much “now yours” as those father’s gifts became theirs.

One more realization…the men who were offered the gifts at church met the criterion of “being dads”…and so must we meet the one criterion to receive what Faith allows us to take to ourselves.

We must have Christ Jesus.

He makes us it so we CAN receive everything offered to us from the Heavenly Father, from whom every good and perfect gift comes.

I just quoted from James 1:17, which says, Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. And let me share another verse too, for this one lets us know that the promises of God are answered through Christ Jesus!

'For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.' 2 Corinthians 1:20

So, if you don’t know Christ yet, just receive him as your Lord, as your first amazing gift, then start taking all the wonderful gifts offered to you…unto yourself.

Make it personal, not abstract. Not for everyone else, but for yourself!

This is Faith. Faith is a receiver.

Friends, you can TAKE what is offered to you in God’s Word!

It’s already yours to receive!
