Chapter 3 – Communication Keys: How to Listen and Speak
Suspicion is cautious distrust… a hesitation to trust… a leeriness in responding to something being told you… an uncertainty when listening to someone.
There is actually a spirit of suspicion that has been released across the land, and people are becoming hardened and cynical… listening to one another in suspicion! They question motives behind everything that is being said. They think someone has an ulterior motive when they’re saying something… and this mistrust or distrust causes a slant on how someone Listens!
Television and media, with demonic powers and principalities operating behind the scenes, have literally “put suspicion” within the psyche of people, i.e., their heart, soul, and mind. Why? To divide! The strategy of Satan is always to divide and conquer.
The Spirit of God wants Believers to Listen – without Suspicion. He desires “unity”.
I am going to say something controversial now, but I am to say it:
Christians have gone over to the dark side with their conspiracy theories! These are rooted in their listening with suspicion! And I am told to warn…
In fact, those with suspicion will have suspected me not telling the truth in that bolded last paragraph!
Due to their implanted mindset, not of the Holy Spirit, everything they hear or receive is “with a slant”. They no longer discern truth but are deceived into thinking that their conspiracy theory thoughts are truth. Please warn them, as I’m doing you. What may have started off as a real awareness of an untruth, due to the Devil swinging the pendulum in the opposite direction, now Believers think suspiciously of all news. It is just not so.
If we listen, without suspicion, then God is “still able” to warn us of dangers or lies, deceptions or strategies against us. But we don’t automatically have the spirit of suspicion rise up within, tainting our hearing.
The Holy Spirit is “being bound” by suspicion… his voice not being heard clearly in the Saints who walk in suspicion of others. Furthermore, the accounts they give of events, due to their slant in thinking, is doing harm to the Body of Christ.
Faith requires trust. Suspicion is from the Enemy!
We can vilify any person or activity we choose to, for it’s a slant on our own thinking, more so than it is an actual reality. When we speak or write about something in an abusively disparaging manner, causing other people to have a bad opinion of that person or thing, we are communicating for the Devil, not for God.
We are being warned NOT to have suspicion when we are listening to someone else. We can look at the LOVE Chapter of the bible, which is II Corinthians 13, and see in Verse 5, that love is “not easily provoked, and thinketh no evil”. Do you hear that: “Thinketh no evil.” This means, as Believers, walking in love, we are to LISTEN – without suspicion, because we are thinking no evil. We are wanting to give people the benefit of the doubt… we are wanting for people to share their heart and goals, without being suspicious of them.
Some TV preachers of the past brought error about “getting a specific spiritual blessing for a certain dollar amount in giving”…and they hurt the body of Christ with a false teaching. What happened… that the Enemy took hold of and ran with… is that then the public became leery of ALL preachers throughout the land! Leery means suspicious! So then, instead of receiving the counsel of God through genuine preaching of godly ministers, they’d turn the channel or not attend church. They shut out the Holy Spirit altogether! The Lord was faithful to “bring correction to His Church” in this area, yet now also has to give out this instruction: To Listen – without Suspicion!
Do you see how dangerous Suspicion is to the purposes of God, and to your own communications? Believers are to Listen – without Suspicion.
Another scenario: A boyfriend or girlfriend has an innocent text to another person on their phone, and when asked about it they reply…oh they are just a friend from church, or they are a co-worker… DO YOU QUESTION? Are you instantly suspicious? …even though they’ve never ever given you reason to be suspicious. Is there even any facts involved in your suspicion or mistrust? If not, then you are listening to the Devil and about to ruin a good relationship, and lovely communication, with your suspicions! People need to be trusted, and desire to be trusted! When you are at the receiving end of mistrust, it can ruin your relationship with the one who is suspicious of you!
Mind you…when someone is Listening – with Suspicion, you will be aware, if you tune in to your own heart, of a spirit that rises up within you of a negative, questioning, unloving nature…that wants to divide. Not a clear voice from the Holy Spirit telling you to be cautious. There is a huge difference.
In closing, let me encourage you:
The Holy Spirit will be faithful to “bring to light” when you are listening with Suspicion, now that you are alerted to this. Sometimes all it takes for the Enemy to lose his hold is for a Believer to stay aware.
