Are You Choosing Second Best?

Revelation 2:4-5a

“Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first.”

I have had to repent of this … asking IS He FIRST?

The sin you see, that we must fear is not the sin of vicious wrong doing, but rather it is the sin of choosing second best.

Are we proving what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God?

Examine yourselves… with these questions the Holy Spirit poses to you. I suggest you take a pad of paper and with each question you Examine Yourself by writing down, in your own words, what the Spirit reveals to you about yourself. Let him bring conviction, for then any blind spots can be brought to His Light. You will be changed, as His perspective changes what your own perspectives have been.

Do I question “Is my agenda, God’s?” or do I ponder the better question: “Is God’s Agenda mine?”

Examine Yourself

Do I pray “God go with me!” or do seek His face and pose the better question: “Do I go with you, God?”

Examine Yourself

While interceding for others, God once asked me: Why are so many people doing my work, not doing MY work?”

Examine Yourself

We’ve heard Believers say, “Focus on the giver not the gifts.” But God asks His people: “Why do I give you gifts if you’re not going to use them!”

Examine Yourself

How can you believe who seek the praise of one another, and seek not the praise that comes from God alone? John 5:44

Examine Yourself

James 4:17 says, “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”

Examine Yourself

These are just the examination questions God posed to me to share with you.

There will be some questions of his own that the Holy Spirit will share with you alone as you keep a posture of openness to Him and the heart’s desire to go deeper with Him. In fact, as you read the scriptures for yourself, I encourage you to always make a habit of examining yourself in light of what you’ve just read. It need not be a heavy undertaking, but rather just an open heart to desire Him to change you.

I guess the last one, which I hear as I type this is:

“Will you ‘take the time’ to examine yourself?

It is not time wasted. It is time that will set a foundation for your future exploits and to prepare you for Christ’s coming!

Time is also a gift of fellowship you give to Him, just as you would a spouse. He longs for your fellowship.

Are you giving enough time to Him?

Let this site’s devotionals aid you in your time with Him. They were given to deeper your relationship and to facilitate spiritual growth in your life.
