Chapter 10: Communication Keys: How to Listen and Speak
The best way to speak Faith is to grab hold of promises of God that you can draw upon, for “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks” according to Matthew 12:34. We are told to hide God’s word in our heart that we might sin against God, but we also hide God’s word in our heart so that we can speak faith, not fear!
Then, when circumstances come that could bring fear you reject fear and counter that “reaction” with the Word of God.
I’m not so good at memorizing, so I have little 2×3 inch lined journals that I keep handy…one in my purse, one on my coffee table…and I read them often, for I’ve filled them with promises I came to when reading the Word. But wait you say, it says SPEAK… and I say, yes, indeed!… But to Speak Faith you must know the Word! You must know the Lord!
For instance, my knowledge of Mark 9:23, “If you can’t believe, all things are possible to him that believeth”…and knowing My Jesus said these words, can enable me TO SPEAK them, and believe them, overcoming fear. I can also speak faith to others, because I can share “the Word” that may apply to a scenario they are going through that causes them fear. And I can also share experiences with the Lord that may encourage them to trust him for themselves. This is how we “strengthen one another in love”.
Do not agree with a spirit of Fear, when it rises up within you, wanting you to speak of the problem, rather than speak to the problem. I stumbled in this area for a long time. Now, I understand that this isn’t just a weakness I’ve had, but the majority of those in the body of Christ, have come “under” Fear. We have spoken Fear, not Faith. Just the opposite of what the Holy Spirit is instructing us here.
My husband, Leonard, has since before I met him, had this saying at part of his signature in Microsoft Word, which goes out with all his correspondence. It says:
I will speak to my God
about the size of my mountain in prayer;
Once I’m finished,
I will speak to my mountain
about the SIZE OF MY GOD!!!”
This is scriptural, my friends. I will take you to scripture. In Matthew 17 we see that the disciples were “unable” to cast a devil out of a child, but Jesus rebuked the devil, he departed from the child, and the child was cured from that very hour. (v.18) The disciples then asked why they could not. (v.19) And Jesus said onto them (v.20):
“Because of your unbelief: verily I say unto you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.”
In Matthew 21: Jesus had cursed a fig tree, saying to it, “Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward and forever.” And it withered away. Because the disciples marveled at this, Jesus said to them (v. 21-22)
“Verily, I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if you shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.”
Notice in the first shared verse, the size of a mustard seed is teeny tiny, so this is not about the size of your faith. It’s saying, verse 2, just don’t doubt! The key in both these verses, is our speaking TO the problem. The mountain is your problem that looms so big within your perspective that you don’t see how it can be climbed or gone around! But God can remove it, if YOU speak TO IT! You ask God in prayer that it go! Then, when faith is received, you tell it, the problem, to go!
Do you see from these scriptures that you both ask God, and you speak to it?
Well, Jesus is consistent… He mentions this even another time in Luke 17:6. This time he was speaking to the disciples about forgiveness 7-times-in-a-day! Seemingly impossible from their vantage point, they respond, “Lord, increase our faith”. And then the Lord says in Luke 17:6,
“If you had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.”
Jesus demonstrated the speaking to things, with doing so to the fig tree… and the disciples saw it wither… and the tree heeded the words spoken. Note, Jesus taught his disciples this concept in these three separate passages of scripture. Therefore, I am confident in saying: This is something the Holy Spirit wants the End-Times Saints to grasp in its true meaning. We are to Speak Faith – not Fear! We speak to our problem, no matter how big… believing it must obey the word of the Lord… and it must be removed!
Note, I bolded the word prayer in the first two instances of Jesus’s words. Prayer is needed. This is where we acquire our faith, i.e., are taken from unbelief to faith. We realize the power to have our mountains remove is given us through oneness with God and Christ. This is not going to happen on our own!
I’m to remind you again: Twice it mentions a mustard seed as the measure of our faith. This means: It’s not about the size of your faith but in the Size of Your God! Know that your God is able! He is bigger than the problem!
Review:
Pray to God! Believing!
Don’t Speak Fear!
Don’t speak of the problem!
Speak to the problem!
Tell it where to go!
People have “free will”! – Don’t ever curse a person!
Problems, Things, Obstacles, Objects, Demons, Sicknesses, and Evil does not have free will! We have been given, by Jesus Christ, the authority on earth over all these things, in His Name.
Some Christians say, we don’t have that authority. Only Jesus did. To them, I say, “Reread the verses above. We do.” Jesus, using the word “you” throughout each instruction, refers to us as Believers. But note, some have conditions. We may have to pray and fast (let the Holy Spirit lead), we cannot doubt, which means we must know our God, etc. Get familiar with these scriptures and allow the Spirit of God within you to take you further into how to apply these to your own life. My own thought is that the Lord has been leading us all into maturity, whereby we may exercise His Authority in the land, and begin to rule and reign with Him! The Kingdom of God is within us. First, He must reign within you and me, then He will use us collectively to rule and reign with Him, affecting the atmosphere all around us. We must be “under authority” to “exercise authority”. This is God’s way.
